The report summarises the ACNC’s analysis of information received from charities in their Annual Information Statements.
Some of the key highlights:
• Approximately 65% of charities are defined as small (with annual revenue of less than $250,000)
• The most common charity was those associated with religious activities (accounting for 30% of all registered charities)
• There are now over 3.3 million volunteers across Australia’s charities (compared to 2.9 million in the previous year)
• Almost 44% of registered charities stated they were an incorporated association (that reported to a separate state or territory regulator)
