ACNC to Conduct DGR Eligibility Reviews

As part of the Federal Government’s DGR Reforms, the ACNC has announced that it will be reviewing approximately 500 registered charities each year to assess their eligibility for registration as a charity.

The ACNC has noted that it will review charities using information that it already has or that is publicly available and we will only contact a charity if it identifies an issue. The ACNC has also reminded charities that a self-assessment tool does exist to check entitlements to DGR registration are being met and to identify and rectify any issues.

The process is set to commence in July 2020, with the initial focus on Public Benevolent Institutions (PBIs).
